«To teach conducting, and to study it, you need to have an instrument -
in this case, the orchestra, which is the most expensive «instrument» of all.
In supporting a foundation to meet the costs of engaging an orchestra, you are directly supporting young conductors, who cannot learn their craft, or develop their skills and musicianship, without one.
I am forever grateful that I had such an opportunity as a young conductor, and hope that you will support Johannes Schlaefli in providing a similar opportunity for today’s young talents.»
